Sultanate to serve in AGILE decision-making, implementation process

SOKOTO: The Sultan of Sokoto, his eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has appointed Professor Jabbi Kilgore, a Sultanate senior councillor, to represent him and the Sultanate Council in all decision-making and implementation processes of AGILE programmes and activities in the state.
His Eminence the Sultan announced the appointment at a meeting at his place while receiving AGILE state project coordinator, Dr. Mansur, alongside other members of the AGILE management team, on an advocacy visit to his palace.
During the visit, the Sultan expressed his appreciation for the AGILE team’s performance in the state. He commended the foresight shown in the implementation of the project as scheduled, acknowledging the positive impact it had made so far.
The Sultan further urged the AGILE team to intensify their efforts in addressing the challenges facing female child education. He emphasized the importance of achieving significant progress in this area to foster lasting change in the state.
Impressed by the work done by the team, the Sultan assigned Professor Jabbi Kilgore to represent him in the AGILE project’s implementation and execution, highlighting the importance of his involvement in ensuring the project’s success.
In addition, the Sultan advised the state management team to organize town hall meetings in the various senatorial districts and national assembly constituencies. These meetings, he said, would serve to educate the public on the critical importance of girl-child education.
Earlier, Dr. Mansur explained that the visit was part of AGILE’s advocacy efforts aimed at engaging traditional and religious leaders. He noted that the Sultan’s support was crucial to the success of any project in northern Nigeria.
Dr. Mansur praised the Sultan for embodying modesty and decency, qualities he described as being symbolic not only in Nigeria but throughout Africa. He emphasized that the Sultan’s endorsement is vital for ensuring any project’s success in the region.
Expressing his gratitude for the Sultan’s continuous support, Dr. Mansur acknowledged the monarch’s significant role in promoting the AGILE project across the country and in securing its acceptance in northern Nigeria.
The Sultan, through his participation in various geopolitical engagements, has played an essential role in making the AGILE project more accessible and acceptable to the people of northern Nigeria.
In response to the appointment of Professor Kilgore, the AGILE coordinator thanked the Sultan, stating that the decision held great significance for the project.
Dr. Mansur further called on the residents of Sokoto and the wider state to support the AGILE initiative, highlighting its importance in advancing education and improving the lives of girls across the region.
