No inmate arrested at Warri correctional centre – Police

ASABA – THE Delta State Police Command, Thursday, said no prison inmate was arrested at the Warri Correctional Centre (Okere Prisons) overalleged criminal acts of four inmates of the centre at Benin-City, Edo State.Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, Mr. Bright Edafe told Vanguard that though the police went for investigation at the correctional centre, no inmate was arrested.

He said: “We went there for investigation and details of the investigation cannot be made public.

“The Command however, advise  bloggers and content creators to be mindful of how they meddle with police affairs in the State. They should stop feeding the public with lies and unverified facts.”

He said news on the social media that the police arrested prisoners from the Warri Correctional Centre, (Okere prison) was not true.

“Though we went there on investigation, no prisoner was arrested,” he stressed.

Recall that the, Nigeria Correctional Service, NCS,  had on Tuesday  dismissed as untrue social media report that some inmates were arrested at the Warri correctional centre in connection with the alleged  crime on January 3.
