    5 injured in Computer Village store explosion – Police

    The Police Command in Lagos State says it is investigating the explosion that occurred inside a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) camera dealer shop in Ikeja.

    The command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known in a statement on Saturday in Lagos.

    He said that the incident happened on Friday at 6:35 p.m. at Kodesho Street at Computer Village in the Ikeja area of the state.

    “The scene of the explosion and adjoining areas were immediately taken over and cordoned off by operatives of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit of the command, the Mobile Police Detachment and Conventional Police Teams.

    “The scene was swept by the EOD experts of the command to ensure the safety of residents and facilitate a comprehensive investigation to determine the actual cause of the explosion,” he said.

    The image maker said that the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Olohundare Jimoh, arrived at the scene within minutes for an on-the-spot assessment.

    “While investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the explosion and other factors that might have caused the incident, the CP urges Lagos residents to remain calm and not to panic.

    “The public are enjoined to go about their lawful engagements and businesses peacefully without fear or apprehension, as the scene of the explosion and the adjoining area have been rendered safe and secured,” he said.

    According to him, five persons inside and around the shop that sustained various degrees of injury have been rescued and taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for medical attention.

    The spokesperson said that the command assured the public of its commitment to maintaining peace and security throughout the state. (NAN)

    Ex-immigration boss found dead in Abuja hotel room after receiving female guest – Police

    The FCT Police Command has debunked reports that former Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Mr. David Shikfu Parradang, was kidnapped and killed.

    Instead, the police confirmed that he was found dead in a chair inside his hotel room in Abuja after receiving a female guest.

    Parradang was discovered dead a day after checking into the Joy House Hotel, Area 3 Junction, by a concerned friend, a military officer, who arrived with hotel staff to check on him.

    In an official statement titled, “FCT Police Respond to Misreported Death of Retired Comptroller General David Parradang,” issued by SP Josephine Adeh, PPRO, the police provided details of the incident, emphasizing that there was no case of kidnapping or assassination.

    “On March 3, 2025, at approximately 12:00 PM, Mr. Parradang arrived at Joy House Hotel, Area 3 Junction, driving a black Mercedes Benz. He checked into the hotel, paying ₦22,000 for a one-night stay.

    Shortly after checking in, he requested that a hotel attendant escort a female guest to his room. The lady left the hotel premises around 4:00 PM on the same day.

    The police also confirmed that efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest the female guest who last visited him.The FCT Police Command has urged the public and media to avoid spreading unverified reports suggesting that the former NIS boss was kidnapped or assassinated.

“We urge the public and media outlets to refrain from spreading unverified information, including claims of kidnapping, that may incite fear or panic.

The FCT Police Command is committed to conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding Mr. Parradang’s death and ensure justice is served.”

The police assured that updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.

    Mr. Parradang did not leave his room afterward. Around 4:00 AM on March 4, 2025, a friend, who is a military officer, concerned about his wellbeing, traced him to the hotel.

    Upon arrival, the hotel receptionist and the officer proceeded to his room, where they found Mr. Parradang deceased, seated in a chair.

    The Durumi Police Station was notified, and officers quickly arrived at the scene to secure the area, take photographs, and collect relevant evidence to preserve the integrity of the investigation.

    His body has been transferred to the National Hospital for further examination, while hotel staff are cooperating with police investigations.

    The police also confirmed that efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest the female guest who last visited him.

    Gunmen Kidnap Afenifere Youth Leader, Request N100m Ransom

    The Afenifere Youth Council National President, Eniola Ojajuni, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Abuja.

    Abiodun Aderohunmu the National Secretary of the council, in a statement yesterday stated that the incident happened on Monday, February 17.

    As stated by Aderohunmu, the kidnappers were demanding a N100 million ransom, stating.

    “The Afenifere National Youths Council is deeply saddened to announce the kidnapping of its National President, Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, in Abuja, Nigeria. “The unfortunate incident occurred yesterday, and the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N100, 000,000.

    In the process of kidnapping, Prince Ojajuni was wounded by bullet on his buttock. We are deeply affected about his safety and well-being, and we urge the kidnappers to free him unharmed.

    Prince Ojajuni is a prominent figure in Nigeria and a strong advocate for youth empowerment and development.”

    The federal government and security agencies were asked to act faster for Ojajuni’s return while imploring Nigerians with credible information to help.

    As at the time of filing this report, the Federal Capital Territory police command is yet to respond on this issue.

    Police deny complicity in escape of Anambra lawmaker Azuka’s suspected killers

    The Police Command in Anambra has denied any complicity in the escape of two suspects allegedly linked to the murder of Mr. Justice Azuka, lawmaker at the State Assembly.

    Azuka, Labour Party (LP) lawmaker was representing Onitsha-1 Constituency before his life was cut short by suspected kidnappers.

    SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state made this known on Thursday in a statement in Awka.

    According to Ikenga, the police cannot be the same people who risk their lives with other security operatives to arrest these criminals involved in the gruesome murder of Hon. Justice Azuka and still turn around to sabotage the process.

    “Remember that we had earlier paraded these suspects for residents of the state and the world to see.

    “We are owning up to our responsibility, no doubt. Nevertheless our main focus now, while we are still interrogating the officers involved in these operational lapses to face serious sanctions, is to re-arrest the suspects on the run.”

    The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the two suspects were among others arrested recently by the joint security force over the murder of the lawmaker, before they fled from police custody during an operation to apprehend a suspect also linked to the crime. (NAN)

    It’s an offence to refuse officers entry, exit from your house — Police

    Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, said on Saturday that it is an offence to refuse officers entry and exit from one’s house.

    Edafe stated this in a post on X in reaction to a video of a group of young men refusing to open their gate for people dressed like policemen to gain access into the building.

    The men were heard in the video saying they were content creators and not internet fraudsters. They also expressed concern about the masks worn by the armed men.

    One of the armed men fired a shot in the air. Thereafter, one of them gained access into the building through the fence.

    Edafe said wearing masks is not allowed in the Nigeria Police Force but warned that refusing to grant the police entry and exit from one’s house is an offence.

    “Wearing a mask as a policeman is a red flag and its not allowed in Policing. However we all should stop thinking that it is right to lock the police either outside or inside, thats another offense on its own,” he wrote.

    “That incident cant be defended simply because the policemen were on masked. We are waiting for information to know where it transpired so that proper investigation will be carries out.”

    Edafe wondered why the men said they were not internet fraudsters when the police never asked them any question.

    Katsina Police Arrest SIM Swap Fraud Syndicate and Child Murder Suspects

    The Katsina State Police Command has apprehended four individuals suspected of engaging in illegal SIM card swapping and bank fraud. The arrests, announced on Thursday, followed a targeted operation based on credible intelligence.

    According to Abubakar Aliyu, the police spokesperson, the suspects used sophisticated techniques to fraudulently access victims’ bank accounts after illegally swapping their SIM cards.

    “The suspected notorious fraudsters who specialized in swapping SIM cards of unsuspecting members of the public to fraudulently use sophisticated tactics to withdraw money from their victim’s bank accounts,” Aliyu said during a press briefing.

    The police recovered 32 SIM cards from the suspects and revealed their identities:

    • Muhammad Murtala, alias Bomboy, age 20, of Rahamawa quarters.
    • Muhammad Umar, alias Dogon Baba, age 33, of Sabuwar Unguwa quarters.
    • Muhammad Quraish, age 29, of Sabuwar Kasuwa quarters.
    • Emmanuel Ogunwoye, alias OG, age 25, a bank staff member.

    The suspects reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation.

    “The command, acting on credible intelligence, launched an operation to track down the syndicate. After a thorough investigation, four suspects were arrested and confessed to the commission of the offense,” Aliyu added.

    Arrests in 12-Year-Old’s Abduction and Murder

    In a separate case, the Katsina police also arrested two individuals for the abduction and murder of Salihu Sadi, a 12-year-old boy in Kaita Local Government Area.

    Aliyu disclosed that the suspects, identified as Muttaka Garba and Yusuf Usman, kidnapped the boy while he was running an errand for his mother.

    The suspects demanded a ransom of ₦25 million from the victim’s parents but tragically killed the boy during negotiations.

    “These suspects callously took the life of an innocent child after making financial demands from his family,” Aliyu said.

    The Nigerian Police Force has revealed that social media personality, Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM) will appear in court today for unauthorized use of Police uniforms.

    “In response to recent developments, VDM, whose real name is Mr. Martins Otse, is set to appear in court today following allegations of impersonation related to the unauthorized use of Nigeria Police Force uniforms in a viral social media video,” the NPF wrote on X.

    The FCT Police Command added that it is actively handling the case, underscoring the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to upholding the integrity of its symbols and preventing their misuse.

    The police also encouraged interested persons to follow up on the proceedings as the case unfolds.

    Police recover stolen vehicles, detain suspects, kidnapper in Kaduna

    The Police Command in Kaduna State has announced the recovery of two stolen vehicles and the detention of six suspects, as well as a suspected kidnapper.

    ASP Mansir Hassan, the Command’s Spokesperson, confirmed the developments in a statement issued on Thursday in Kaduna.

    He said on October 25, at approximately 20:00 hours, a patrol team from the Rigachikun division spotted a suspiciously parked black Kia Rio behind NDC Quarters.

    He said the lone occupant fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle.

    “A search revealed a Tecno KL4 handset, an iPad, and vehicle documentation photocopies. Preliminary investigations identified the owner as a resident of Sardauna Close in Badarawa, Kaduna.

    “The vehicle was stolen earlier that day at 14:00 hours from Yahaya Road Jumaat Mosque in Ungwan Rimi, Kaduna.”

    He said on October 27, officers from the Kakuri Police Division intercepted a Toyota LE vehicle with four occupants displaying suspicious behaviour along Kachia Road.

    “The suspects confessed to receiving the vehicle from two others, who instructed them to sell it.

    “Police subsequently apprehended the additional two suspects. All six suspects are in custody, with ongoing investigations.”

    He also said on October 29, officers from the Katari Division arrested Abdullahi Saleh, 42, for aiding banditry and attempted extortion.

    He said that Saleh allegedly approached a female shop owner at Katari Main Market, claiming a group of bandits planned to kidnap her.

    He demanded N200,000, later reduced to N60,000. Upon arrest, Saleh admitted to the act and remained in custody.

    The Commissioner of Police, Mr Ibrahim Abdullahi, assured the public of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

    Police arraign man over alleged N1.5m land fraud

    The police on Friday arraigned 36-year-old Nurudeen Abdulrasak at Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, over alleged N1.5 million land fraud.

    Abdulrasak, with no fixed address, was charged with conspiracy, obtaining money under false representations, stealing and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

    The Prosecutor, Insp. Iyabo Oladoyin, told the court that Abdulrasak committed the offences sometimes in 2023 at Oki area, Ibadan.

    She said that the suspect, and others at large, obtained N1.5 million from one Olayinka Ogundare, with the aim of selling half plot of land to him, but failed to do so.

    She said Abdulrasak also conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by intimidating Ogundare and converted the money to his personal use.

    She said the offences contravened sections 516, 419, 390(9) and 249(d) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

    However, the suspect pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the Magistrate, Mrs Adebola Adeola, granted him bail in the sum of N1.5 million

    with two reliable sureties in like sum.

    She thereafter adjourned the case until Dec. 3, for hearing.

    Police detain five suspects over alleged cybercrime in Benue

    The Police Command in Benue has detained five suspects over alleged idenity theft and cyber fraud.

    This is contained in a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Sewuese Anene, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi on Friday.

    The statement said that the four suspects, whose ages range between 18 and 21, were apprehended by the Cybercrime and Narcotics Department of the Police Command.

    It said that the operatives following intelligence gathered on activities of the suspects raided their hideout in Makurdi and subsequently apprehended them.

    “Exhibits recovered from them include: three iphones, one small tecno phone and two other smartphones.

    “Further investigations revealed that the suspects had previously been engaged in impersonating people and using their identities to defraud unsuspecting persons of their belongings,” Anene said.

    She quoted the Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr Steve Yabanet, as warning residents to be wary of activities of cyber criminals.

    Yabanet also assured residents in the state of the command’s commitment to fighting crime.

    He warned individuals and groups involved in cybercrime in Benue State to desist from such acts or face the consequences of their action.

    The CP said that the suspects would be prosecuted on completion of police investigations.
