    Gunmen kill one, abduct three in Nasarawa community

    Unknown gunmen invaded a pharmacy shop, shot a young lady and abducted the pharmacy owner and two of his sales boys at Agyaragu in Jenkwe development area, Obi local government.

    The operation which took place at about 8:44pm on Thursday, in the heart of Agyaragu town lasted for about an hour without any security interference.

    An eyewitness who preferred anonymity told our reporter that the gunmen invaded the popular ‘Emmy Gold Pharmacy Nigeria Limited’, shooting sporadically and gunning down an innocent young lady who was a passerby.

    “The gunmen were well armed. Their shutting scared everybody. They forced the owner of the pharmacy and two of his boys into the bush,” the eyewitness explained.

    He disclosed further that efforts by some youths in the community to resist the assailants from carrying out their act were resisted with heavy repealing shootings.

    The act of violence has sent shockwaves throughout the community, highlighting the urgent need for increased security measures and effective governance.

    One resident, Jonah Yakubu, lamented that Agyaragu community is living in fear, as the frequency and brazenness of kidnapping incidents continue to escalate.

    The demand for ransom has become a recurring theme, with families and loved ones being forced to pay exorbitant sums to secure the release of their abducted relatives.

    Mr. Yakubu called on the governor to increase security presence in Agyaragu community and surrounding areas.

    He also appealed to the security agents. Implement effective measures to prevent kidnapping and ensure the safe release of abducted individuals.All efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Nasarawa State Police Command to confirm the incident failed.

    Gunmen attack Delta nursing students

    Students of the College of Nursing Sciences, Asaba, the Delta State capital, were robbed by armed men who carted away their belongings.

    Saturday TodayPriceNG gathered that the hostel, located outside the school premises and primarily inhabited by female students, was attacked on Thursday night by the gunmen.

    Sources told our correspondent that the robbers, armed with guns and cutlasses, stormed the hostel around 8 p.m., held the students hostage, and dispossessed them of their mobile phones and cash.

    One of the victims said, “The men threatened to shoot us. They ransacked our rooms in search of phones and money. Some of us were hit with a gun, and they even slapped us.

    “There was confusion in the hostel, and some of us hid under bunks. The experience was indeed traumatic. We were afraid to sleep afterward.”

    When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Command, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident.

    He said, “Yes, it is confirmed, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the perpetrators.”

    6 injured as gunmen invade Osun community

    Six persons were reportedly injured after gunmen invaded the Egbedi community in Egbedore Local Government Council Area over a land and chieftaincy dispute.

    It was gathered that some gun-wielding hoodlums laid siege on the town on Thursday, shooting sporadically into the air and attacking residents with cutlasses.

    A palace chief who spoke with Vanguard correspondent Yisa Akolapo disclosed that a chief and two princes of the town were attacked with a cutlass on Wednesday because they inquired what some strangers in the company of arm-wielding thugs were doing.

    Elegbedi, Oba Azeez heard that some persons from Ede and Erin were gathering at Olasaope junction; hence, they sent emissaries, two chiefs and two princes to determine their mission.

    “Upon inquiry, the thugs descended on the Chief and the two princes with cutlasses. They attacked Chief Ajiroba, Yisa Abayomi and Prince Abioye, and they had to run to a police station before the police took them to the hospital for treatment.

    “Later on Thursday, the hoodlums returned with a gun and stopped in front of Elegbedi’s palace and started shooting sporadically in different directions in our community.

    “Six people are in hospital who are battling for their life. The hoodlums shot them. He added that one Oriade Kazeem led the hoodlums from Ede, an aide of Governor Ademola Adeleke and was boosting to have the governor’s backing”.

    Meanwhile, the Elegbedi of Egbedi, Oba Muideen Azeez, disclosed that the hoodlums were working with the backing of Timi of Ede, Oba Adesola Lawal, to install a monarch on Egbedi land.

    “The land they were trying to install a monarch on is currently a subject of litigation in a court in the state; instead of waiting for the outcome, they resorted to attacking our people.

    I am calling on Nigerians to come to our aid as six of my subjects are currently receiving treatment over the incident”, he said.

    Meanwhile, a statement from Timi of Ede media office issued on Friday stated that the palace has nothing to do with the crisis in Egbedi.

    “Timi palace has nothing to do with the crisis in Egbedi; it is the Iloba family that has a land dispute with the town and not Ede town,” the statement added.

    Gunmen Kidnap Afenifere Youth Leader, Request N100m Ransom

    The Afenifere Youth Council National President, Eniola Ojajuni, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Abuja.

    Abiodun Aderohunmu the National Secretary of the council, in a statement yesterday stated that the incident happened on Monday, February 17.

    As stated by Aderohunmu, the kidnappers were demanding a N100 million ransom, stating.

    “The Afenifere National Youths Council is deeply saddened to announce the kidnapping of its National President, Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, in Abuja, Nigeria. “The unfortunate incident occurred yesterday, and the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N100, 000,000.

    In the process of kidnapping, Prince Ojajuni was wounded by bullet on his buttock. We are deeply affected about his safety and well-being, and we urge the kidnappers to free him unharmed.

    Prince Ojajuni is a prominent figure in Nigeria and a strong advocate for youth empowerment and development.”

    The federal government and security agencies were asked to act faster for Ojajuni’s return while imploring Nigerians with credible information to help.

    As at the time of filing this report, the Federal Capital Territory police command is yet to respond on this issue.
