Tinubu, Shettima’s legislative background accounts for good working relationship with NASS — Ehindero
The member representing Akoko North-East and North-West Federal Constituency, Ondo State in the House of Representatives, Hon Ifeoluwa Ehindero, has described as a misnomer the claim that the National Assembly leadership has become a rubber stamp to the executive arm of government led by President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking in an interview in Abuja yesterday, Ehindero, who doubles as the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Reformatory Institutions, declared that the synergy between the legislature and the executive is largely due to the fact that both Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima have legislative backgrounds.
According to him, Tinubu and Shettima understand the importance of collaboration and the necessity for a harmonious relationship between both arms of government.
He said: “Those who criticize this relationship as being a rubber-stamp approach simply fail to understand the essence of strategic governance.
“Effective leadership requires building bridges and working across diverse groups for the collective good of the people”.
Speaking on his contributions to his constituency, Ehindero said he is championing is a bill for the establishment of the Federal College of Education there.
He added that the bill, which passed its first reading in October 2024 and had successfully gone through the second reading, would be subjected to a public hearing before being moved to the Senate for concurrence.
“I am committed to expanding employment opportunities for youth, improving healthcare services, andtraining transport unions and traditional rulers to enhance community leadership”, the lawmaker said. “Road construction is another top priority, and I am working tirelessly to secure funding for critical infrastructure projects”.
