Tribunal Affirms Governor Oborevwori’s Victory, Dismisses Omo-Agege’s Petition

The Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, has struck out APC’s Senator Ovie Omo-Agege petition for lacking merit, hallenging the election of Governor Sheriff Oborevwor.

The three-member tribunal panel headed by Justice C.H. Ahuchaogu, in it’s judgment on Friday, September 29, 2023, affirmed the return of Oborevwori as the winner of the March 18, 2023, gubernatorial election in the state.

The tribunal held that the petitioners failed to prove allegations of non-compliance with the Electoral Act, and corrupt practices beyond a reasonable doubt.

Meanwhile, Omo-Agege has directed his legal team to immediately proceed with an appeal against today’s judgment of the governorship election tribunal that upheld the election of Sheriff Oborevwori as governor of Delta State.

Senator Omo-Agege said the Tribunal failed to reckon with the fundamental flaws in the March 18, 2023 governorship election that mortally rendered the declaration of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as the winner untenable.
